League Rules

CaddyShackers Golf League provides an atmosphere that will surely be enjoyed.   Take a look below and learn more about our league rules.

CADDYSHACKER RULES

2024 SEASON

  1.  You must sign in on the CADDYSHACKERS “SIGN IN” sheet found in the Pro Shop to verify that you played on Monday.  This is essential for participation in any contest or skins games.

  2. You must play with another league member and have your score attested to by that league member.  THIS IS A MUST!  NO SINGLES!

  3. All putts must be putted out.  (No Gimmies!)

  4. Winter rules apply to our league all season.  All rules listed on the scorecard are also in effect.  The Rules Committee, based on the current USGA Rules will settle any dispute.  A player may reposition his ball with a golf club head anywhere within six (6) inches of its original position, no closer to the hole.

  5.  A limit of seven (7) strokes over par shall be the maximum score for any one hole.

  6.  A ball lying in a hazard (sand bunker, etc.) will not be touched or moved in any way, unless it lies in casual water or ground under repair.  The ball must be dropped in the hazard no closer to the hole; if the hazard is completely under water, then drop no closer to the hole behind the hazard to ensure that the hazard is between the ball and the hole.

  7.  A ball lying in or on an immovable obstruction such as benches, signs, casual water, pumps, watering equipment, fences, etc., may be dropped (not closer to the hole) two club lengths with no penalty.  If a lie is considered unplayable, relief may be gained by going back along the line of flight with a penalty on one (1) stroke.  Any lost ball, fairway, hazard or rough, is a loss of one (1) stroke.

  8.  The valley on holes #8 and #11 will be played as a yellow hazard.

  9.  If a ball is hit out of bounds, the player will drop a ball, under penalty of one (1) stroke within two (2) club lengths of the place where the ball last crossed the course boundary line.  However, if this requires dropping a ball in a hazard, the player may drop a ball outside the hazard line where the ball was hit, but not nearer the hole.  NO provisional ball will be allowed. Rainouts will be determined by the golf course.

10.          Rainouts will be determined by the golf course.  If the course is open, a score card will be required, and you will have until the next scheduled      Monday to make up the round.  If the course is closed, no card will be required.  The league officers will have the final word on whether the course is playable or not and will notify the golf course.  If you have any questions regarding the league playing or not, call the golf course 219-873-1516.

11.          Hole #15 - If a ball is hit into the rough area to the right of the 100-yard marker on #15 fairway a free drop is allowed.  Follow the USGA Rule #25 (Abnormal Ground Conditions).

12.         Players will be Flighted by Handicap, Number of Players in the League and Senior Flights - 65 or 75 years of age.  Players can be re-flighted after the first half of play due to handicap and numbers in each flight.

In cases where you must play some time other than Monday, you must play with at least one (1) other member of our golf league to verify your score.  The names of both players must appear on the card.  PLEASE INDICATE WHICH PLAYER IS MAKING UP THE ROUND AND THE DATE FOR THE WEEK YOU’RE MAKING UP!  You will have until Monday of the next scheduled week to make up your league play, regardless of which nine holes you are playing.  Again, the scorecard must be dated for the week you’re making up; also, the scorecard must be placed in the Caddyshackers drop box in the Pro Shop.  If you cannot drop it in the box, please contact the league secretary as soon as possible.  Do not leave the card with any employee at the golf course.  Your score will not count if it is not in the box, or you haven’t contacted the league secretary.

All Flight will play from the WHITE Tees.  Exception:  If you are 65 years of age by April 1st, of the current season you will play from the GOLD Tees.  If you are 75 years of age by April 1st, of the current season you will play from the RED Tees.  These players will be in separate divisions.

CADDYSHACKERS IS A MEN’S ONLY GOLF LEAGUE

Eligible players MUST be 21 years old BEFORE April 1st, of the year joining the league.

Any questionable situation not mentioned specifically in the rules will be referred to the Rules Committee for a final decision.  Rule infringements must be reported, in writing, within 24 hours of the infraction and given to a league official.

REMINDER:  Each golfer is responsible for their score being turned in.  Always check to make sure that the golfer keeping score turns the card in.   In the past seasons, some scorecards were taken home by the golfer keeping score and then all golfers in that group were penalized for not having a score listed.  This affects the SKINS contest and the points awarded.  No call will be made to golfers for missing scorecards.

CONTESTS:  Contest such as: Closest to the Pin (first shot), Longest First Putt, Long Drive (in the Fairway) or Closest to Pin (second shot) will be held every scheduled week.  To be eligible for participation you must:

  1.  Play on the scheduled Monday.

  2. Sign in at the Pro Shop on the Cadddyshackers sign-in sheet.

  3. Be sure you only put your name on the Proxy card for your flight.
